Welcome to Creative Minds Lincolnshire, a creative space promoting wellness through art and mindfulness and compassion practice.

I've discovered that my own mindfulness meditation and compassion practice has benefited my creative process. After 6 years of regular meditation, to help manage living with long-term health conditions, I decided to train to teach others. I believe that taking time to find activities that we enjoy, and that promote social connection, help us resource ourselves and acts as a balance against the depleting effects of modern life.

Mindfulness and compassion practices build resiliency through a tool kit of meditations and exercises. When we learn to tune into something as simple as the breath, or an anchor such as our body weight connecting to the ground through our feet, we have access to a tool that can stabilise us at moments when we feel we are spinning from one of life's events to another. Rather than rushing though life on autopilot, constantly doing, we have a chance to pause and notice things exactly as they are. In this moment we can choose how to respond rather than react, once again we can return to a life as a human being, rather than a human doing.

Artistic practice is another tool, allowing us to express and explore thoughts and feelings that are so often difficult to put into words. Clay is a wonderful medium and I believe it to be accessible to everyone. From a child playing with mud pies in the garden, to an artist creating sculpture, or a potter throwing vessels on a potters wheel, there is delight to be found in having muddy hands and being free to play and create.

It's a privilege to share mindfulness meditation teaching and the skills needed to work with clay, as well as my own ceramic creations.
